Rihanna blamed by Boston teens

Rihanna is to blame for the vicious beating that left her battered, bloodied and bruised allegedly at the hands of singer Chris Brown. This is according to an astounding new survey of Boston teens.

Of the 200 Boston teens aged 12-19 surveyed, “51 percent believe Chris Brown was responsible for the incident, 46 percent believe Rihanna was responsible and 52 percent said both were to blame; 52 percent said the media was treating Brown unfairly; 44 percent said fighting was a normal part of a relationship.”

A “significant” number said “Rihanna was destroying Chris Brown’s career” and an equal number of men and women placed the blame on Rihanna.

Experts say that the disgusting teen sympathy to Brown may be caused by the “normalization of violence” in pop culture.

Meanwhile, A week after soliciting votes in his MySpace page, Chris Brown has removed himself from consideration at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards – so these same misguided kids can’t award him for his atrocious behavior.

A spokesperson for Brown issued this statement:

“Chris very much appreciates the support of his fans and the honor they have paid him in the way of nominations for Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Song.

Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding the incident last month has shifted the focus from the music to whether he should be allowed to be among those nominated.

While Chris would like to speak to his fans directly about this and other issues, pending legal proceedings preclude his doing so at this time. Once the matter before him has been resolved, he intends to do so.”

Earlier in the week Brown had posted a message on his MySpace page asking fans to vote for him:

”Hey fans: Vote for Chris on the Kids Choice Awards 2009 link provided below…Thank you for your support.”

Brown was nominated for two awards including one against his alleged battery victim Rihanna.

Nickelodeon came under fire from parents last week when the network refused to remove Brown from award consideration themselves. The mostly-kids channel said that Brown was nominated for his work as a performer and that kids should ultimately decide who wins. These same people also would let their children decide between playing with wooden blocks or fireworks.

An online petition was started to remove Brown from contention. Viewers flooded the phone lines of parent company Viacom with angry protests.

”If this [pressure] keeps up, I can’t imagine they won’t pull Brown from consideration,” a network insider said Monday. “People already are working on some kind of exit strategy from this nightmare.”

Was that exit strategy getting Brown to pull out himself?
