Chris Brown issues statement on Rihanna

Chris Brown has broken his silence over charges that he beat and choked girlfriend Rihanna the morning of the Grammys.

Chris Brown truly appears concernedA spokesperson for Chris Brown released a statement today which read, “Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person.”Brown went on to address rumors circulating about the attack on Rihanna, including the fact that any previous statements attributed to him about the incident have been fake.”Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds.”In the early morning hours of February 8, police responded to a witness complaint that a man was beating a woman in his car. Upon responding, police found the battered victim — who identified Brown as her attacker — alone at the scene. While police have not officially named the victim, sources close to the investigation and to the singer have confirmed it is in fact Rihanna. The district attorney’s office is currently deciding what charges to file. The victim claimed Brown threatened to kill her, which is a very serious charge. Sources say this would be very difficult to prove in this case; however, a domestic battery charge is pretty much a done deal.
