From plants to animals, spring is synonymous with renewal — as well as rain. So, when spring showers strike, crafts will encourage your youngster to be creative while busting indoor boredom. For a craft that pulls double duty, teach your youngster about spring animals.
Washcloth bunny craft
Washcloth bunnies are an easy, spring animal craft that older kids can hop to and give as gifts!
Materials:
- Large washcloth
- Bar soap
- Rubber band
- Ribbon
- Wiggle eyes
- Pom poms
- Craft glue
Directions:
- Lay washcloth flat on table in a diamond shape.
- Place bar soap on corner closest to you and begin rolling until you reach opposite corner.
- Pull long ends of rolled washcloth up to meet in the middle to form ears and secure at top of soap with rubber band.
- Glue wiggle eyes and pom pom to front for nose and pom pom to back for tail, and cover rubber band with decorative ribbon.
Cotton ball lamb spring animals
Spring lambs come to life with this cotton ball craft that both younger and older kids will enjoy.
Materials:
- Small plastic cup
- Large bag of cotton balls
- Craft glue
- 4 wooden clothespins
- White paint
- Paintbrush
- Black pom pom
- Black felt
- Scissors
- Black marker
- Googly eyes
Directions:
- Cover cup with glue, and coat with cotton balls.
- Paint clothespins white, and let dry completely. Add hooves to the part you squeeze with black marker.
- Clip clothespins to bottom of cotton ball-covered cup to form legs.
- Glue black pom pom to cup to form a head, adding two felt ears and googly eyes. Finish by securing cotton ball tail to the back with glue.

Tissue paper chick crafts for kids
Your tiny tots will love to crumple squares of tissue paper to form a fuzzy spring chick craft that is quick and easy.
Materials:
- Various sizes of Styrofoam balls
- Yellow tissue paper cut into small squares
- Orange pipe cleaner cut in half, reserving small section for beak
- Googly eyes
- Craft glue
Directions:
- Let your kiddo scrunch tissue paper squares into balls and glue to Styrofoam ball. Cover completely.
- Bend each pipe cleaner in half into a long triangle, twisting at the top to form the leg and bending bottom of triangle to form feet for standing.
- Stick pipe cleaner legs into bottom of tissue-covered Styrofoam ball and bend small, reserved pipe cleaner into a V shape to form beak.
- Glue eyes and beak to front of chick and let dry.
Paper plate duck craft
This craft will not only keep the kids busy, they’ll be creating a handprint keepsake that will last for seasons to come!
Materials:
- Paper plate
- Scissors
- Craft glue
- Stapler
- Pencil
- Orange and yellow construction paper
- Paint, crayons or markers
- Googly eyes
Directions:
- Trace and cut out handprints on yellow construction paper.
- Color paper plate yellow and fold in half with straight edge at the top, and staple handprints to left end to form tail feathers.
- Cut a circle from yellow construction paper for the head and glue beak cut from orange construction paper to the head. Glue on eyes.
- Cut duck feet from orange construction paper, and staple to the bottom of the rounded portion of the paper plate. Staple head to the right edge of the paper plate fold, and you’re through!
