March 2 marks what would be the 108th birthday of Dr. Seuss. Give him the celebration he deserves by reading your favorite books, watching the recent movie adaptations and by making a few Dr. Seuss-approved treats.

Truffula tree cupcake recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 3-1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 10 drops green food coloring
  • 1 package pretzel sticks
  • 2 packages cotton candy

Dr. Suess party

Dr. Seuss was all about being fun and creative. Having Dr. Seuss-inspired treats is as simple as adding a little color. Another spin on cupcakes is to use gummy fish in red and blue, as seen in this Dr. Seuss party on Pizzazzerie.

Green eggs and ham recipe

One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish. Putting a Seuss-approved meal on the table starts with this signature dish. You can eat them at night or whenever the time feels right. If you eat them with Emeril, he’ll say BAM, you’ll love to eat green eggs and ham.

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 8 eggs
  • 12 drops green food coloring
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of honey ham

Directions:

  1. Crack your eggs into a bowl, add food coloring, salt and pepper and stir to combine. Pour eggs into a heated skillet and scramble.
  2. Heat another skillet and sear ham on both sides.
  3. Serve immediately.

*For a more natural green option, make a pesto from basil, spinach, kale or any deep green herb or veggie and mix that into the eggs instead.
