Kim Kardashian gets “real’ about her sex tape

Kim Kardashian has a really tough life, guys. It’s really hard to be famous for having sex on camera, but she’s managing to “rise above” it all.

Most of us didn’t have a clue who Kim Kardashian was — other than being Paris Hilton’s frenemy — before her sex tape with Ray J was released. Now, she’s everywhere — and the girlfriend of Kanye West admits it’s all because of the tape.

“You know, I think that’s how I was definitely introduced to the world,” the reality star said when Oprah asked her whether or not she’d be famous without it. “It was a negative way, so I felt like I really had to work 10 times harder to get people to see the real me.”

But, we argue, who is the real Kim Kardashian? Everything we know about her is carefully cultivated through a public relations strategy — everything she talks about and promotes is something she’s getting paid for. Also, she never says much of anything on her reality show — she didn’t even get that deep on Keeping Up With the Kardashians about her failed marriage to Kris Humphries.

Why? Well, she has mom Kris Jenner to thank for that. Her momager learned a hard lesson in parenting — and publicity — when Vivid Entertainment released the sex tape. Many gossipers think the family released the tape for profit, but Jenner maintains that it was a “really bad day” when the news broke.

“No mother ever wants to hear something like that,” Jenner told Oprah of the aftermath. “I could tell she was in a lot of pain.”

And Kardashian offered up her failed marriage as a reason why she’s so “real.”

“If anything, the tough decision to end that relationship was such a risk of losing ratings, losing my fan base, but I had to take that risk for myself,” she told Oprah.

“I have to live with the choices I have made,” she said. “And I can’t dwell on it.”

Oh, Kim — keep telling us how difficult your life has been and maybe we’ll believe you. Or not.
