Designer Whitney Port puts The Hills in the past

With her reality days behind her, Whitney Port focuses solely on fashion at her Whitney Eve show during 2012 New York Fashion Week.

Though she’s always had her eye on the runway, Whitney Port was a far cry from the soft-spoken Teen Vogue intern we watched on The Hills when we caught up with her backstage at her Whitney Eve show Wednesday.

Whitney was cool, collected and passionate when talking about her latest fashion collection.

“It’s a lot of fun prints, a lot of oversize sweaters and chunky leggings,” Whitney told us. “For that girl on the go who wants to be comfortable but wants to stand out at the same time.”

And stand out you would in her bright-colored, fuzzy sweaters and moody, velour separates.

While her style is young and fun, her attitude was more serious. When questioned about her days doing reality television, Whitney seemed over the subject, telling us those ties are a thing of the past.

Specifically, she says she is no longer “close” with former besty, fellow designer Lauren Conrad.

“We went through something that was very unique and special,” Whitney told SheKnows. “But I’m not like super close with anybody.”

But she isn’t holding any past grudges either, telling us that even former frenemy and Fashion Week scenester Olivia Palermo is no longer on her radar.

“We’re on fine terms,” said Whitney. “I actually haven’t even really spoken to her since the show ended.”

But Whitney hasn’t completely closed the door on television. She told us she and model Tyson Beckford will soon be headed to London to film Britain’s Next Top Model.
