It may seem enticing to add a baby food maker to your gift registry, but it may also be unnecessary. In my case, I made almost all of son's baby food and I didn't have a dedicated baby food maker. I didn't even have a microwave when my son was a baby, so I'm proof that low-tech baby food isn't that complicated. While I didn't have a baby food maker, I did have a blender, which was useful. There are some baby foods you can make with a fork, but for a very fine texture, a blender or food processor is a really useful tool. If you have a food processor or blender, an extra machine around the house (i.e. the baby food maker) truly isn't necessary, especially when you consider that you won't be able to use the baby food maker for much else.
