Leighton Meester and Adam Brody secretly gave birth to their first child, a baby girl, one month ago. They jumped on board with the celebrity baby name trend of giving her a unique boy name.
Meester has kept a low profile throughout her pregnancy (and actually didn’t even announce that she was pregnant) so it is no surprise that the Gossip Girl alum and her husband, Adam Brody, didn’t announce the birth of their baby girl.

What is surprising is how they managed to keep the Aug. 4 birth of their daughter a secret. TMZ was able to dig up the birth certificate and revealed that their daughter was born after midnight at a hospital in Los Angeles. Her name is…
Arlo Day Brody.
Arlo is categorized as a boy name of English origin. Although Arlo is a unique choice for a baby girl, Meester and Brody aren’t actually the first celebrities to pick this name for their daughter. Jackass star Johnny Knoxville and his wife Naomi Nelson also have a daughter named Arlo. Actress Toni Collette, on the other hand, named her son Arlo.
It is interesting to note that fellow Gossip Girl alum, Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds also gave their daughter the traditional boy name of James.

According to the Social Security Administration’s popular baby name lists, the name Arlo is actually increasing in popularity for boys and is ranked at number 539 this year (Iast year it was 677); however, it is not ranked in the top 1000 for girls. Noah and Emma are currently the most popular baby names.
Day is also a unique choice for a middle name, as many celebrities who pick a more masculine first name for their daughters tend to choose a feminine middle name. For example, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher named their daughter Wyatt Isabelle. Haylie Duff named her daughter Ryan Ava.

Brody and Meester, who quietly got married last year, are no doubt enjoying some private time with baby Arlo — and perhaps they will share a photo when the time is right.
