Couple in vineyard

1Hopkins inn and Vineyard, Warren, CT

Come for the wine: This vineyard has been making wine for more than 30 years. Stay for the breathtaking scenery — the vineyard and inn are set high above charming Lake Waramaug in the Litchfield Hills of western Connecticut. The vineyard produces 11 different varieties of award-winning wines, including the full-bodied Cabernet Franc, $21, and the crisp Sparkling Wine, $23. The inn, which opened in 1847, has 11 antique-decorated rooms, many have views of the lake, and the Austrian-inspired on-site restaurant serves perfect-for-wine pairings like roast Duck à l’Orange and Wiener Schnitzel. A room with a private bath and lake view starts at $130.
