Your question
I am in my second month of pregnancy and I always feel tired. Can exercise help me get my energy back? - Cherrie, Kentucky
The expert answers
Cherrie,
That first trimester can be a bear! Your new pregnancy zaps your energy and
makes you want to just lounge around and take it easy. And, that's
perfectly fine! I have found -- as have many of my clients -- that exercise made me feel
better. I had to push myself to do it, but once I did, I had enough energy
to get through the rest of my day. That said, don't overdo the exercise --
don't work out to the point of exhaustion or try to work out for several hours
several days in a row.

Start with 20-30 minutes three times a week and see how you feel. You should find that your energy level increases once you hit that fourth month. At that time, you can increase the length and intensity of your workouts as long as you feel up to it.
Remember, however, that each day may be different. If you have a ton of energy on Monday, you can push yourself a little harder. But, if on Tuesday you're feeling kind of blah, then take it easy. Listen to your body's signals and you'll be fine!
Lisa :)
