A royal Mother’s Day brunch

by

Still gushing over the royal nuptials? This Mother’s Day celebrate your “mum” in style by hosting a royal wedding-inspired brunch in her honor. We polled lifestyle expert Julie Subotky, CEO and founder of Consider It Done, for expert advice on how to give your next family gathering the royal treatment.

Even though Prince William finally made it official with Catherine Middleton, royal wedding enthusiasts are simply not ready to settle down. While Kate and Will are patiently waiting to embark on their much-deserved honeymoon, you can waste no time honoring the British royals and dear old mom by planning a brunch fit for a queen.

We caught up with Julie Subotky, CEO and founder of Consider It Done, for her secrets to hosting a royal brunch in style.

Here, her top secrets for a chic celebration:

DRESS

“Encourage everyone to don their finest. This is the perfect opportunity to make use of that old bridesmaid dress hanging up in the back of your closet. Go all out! If you don’t have an old formal dress, don a fun hat.”

FOOD

“When planning the menu, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, stick with a buffet brunch. It is much easier to plan at the last minute. And try to stay true to tradition. Epicurean is amazing at providing great British brunch recipes. You can plan your dishes around what Will and Kate feasted on. Think crumpets, tea, cucumber sandwiches, and toast.”

DECOR

“Royalty is all about the bling. Collect a stunning assortment of costume baubles and use them for your centerpiece in a nice jewelry box. Everyone can play dress up and mom will go home with the box as a Mother’s Day gift.”

PICTURES

“Display a photo of the Royal Couple so your family can take turns posing with the bride and groom. Print out the photos right then and there and get some frames for everyone to decorate. Arts and crafts will provide a lovely party favor for your mom to take home.”
