You don’t want to get on Scarlett Johansson‘s bad side. The actress showcases some serious combat skills in the first clip from Marvel’s The Avengers. Watch as the redhead kicks and claws her way out of a very sticky situation.
Scarlett Johansson is kicking butt and taking names. Next month, the actress stars in the comic book adaptation The Avengers, where she plays a master assassin.
Marvel Studios has released a clip from the film that features ScarJo as the deadly Black Widow.
The Avengers are a team of superheroes brought together by S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). The members include Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).

After an alien threat (led by Thor’s brother Loki), descends upon Earth, it’s up to The Avengers to keep us safe. They must work together to stop Loki in his tracks.
Black Widow made her first feature appearance in 2010’s Iron Man 2. She’s an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who was sent to spy on Iron Man’s alter ego Tony Stark. She’s had many aliases but her most common is Natasha Romanoff. She’s a world-class gymnast, weapon’s specialist, marksman and is trained in espionage.

In the following clip, Black Widow is being held and questioned by a few shady characters. After a revealing phone call, she uses her martial arts background to break free and escape.

The Avengers is directed by Joss Whedon and co-stars Clark Gregg, Tom Hiddleston and Cobie Smulders. The film opens in theaters May 4.
