Paula DeenThe internet is abuzz with gossip Paula Deen‘s unhealthy ways may have finally caught up with her. The cooking show host is reportedly about to announce she has Type 2 diabetes — as soon as the ink is dry on a deal she’s made to endorse the drug she’s now taking.

“Paula Deen is going to have to reposition herself now that she has diabetes,” an unnamed source told The Daily. “She’s going to have to start cooking healthier recipes. She can’t keep pushing mac and cheese and deep-fried Twinkies when she is hawking a diabetes drug.”

Wikipedia reports: Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder that is characterized by high blood glucose in the context of insulin resistance and relative insulin deficiency. The classic symptoms are excess thirst, frequently having to urinate and constant hunger. The primary cause of Type 2 diabetes is obesity in someone who is genetically predisposed.

The Southern cooking queen is no stranger to controversy. In 2009 Barbara Walters asked her during an interview, “You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast. You tell them to have chocolate cake and meatloaf for lunch. And french fries. Doesn’t it bother you that you’re adding to this?”

Paula Deen replied simply, “No, I’m not saying they should eat like this every day.”

More recently Paula Deen came under fire from fellow chef Anthony Bourdain. “She revels in unholy connections with evil corporations, and she’s proud of the fact that her food is f*****g bad for you,” he said. “I would think twice before telling an already obese nation that it is OK to eat food that is killing us.”
