Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor? It could happen

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly discussing a role playing Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime movie. Will this role help rehab her image?

Lindsay Lohan rumored to play Elizabeth Taylor in a biopic

Could Lindsay Lohan‘s big comeback be in the form of a Lifetime movie? The troubled actress is said to be in talks to take on Elizabeth Taylor‘s life in a new biopic on the popular women’s network, according to Deadline.com.

Somewhere in Calabasas, Kim Kardashian is fuming that she wasn’t asked to play her idol.

The film — tentatively titled Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story — will explore the late screen icon’s tumultuous relationship with two-time husband Richard Burton. Amish Grace producer Larry Thompson is on board, too, according to the website.

Lohan’s rep refused to comment on the rumor.

The Playboy cover girl seems to be on the up-and-up in her personal life, with a glowing report at her last probation meeting. Signing on for the film could help rehab the once-popular actress’ image in the eyes of Hollywood. Lately, she’s more known for her numerous legal troubles than her acting talent.

“I’ve made a lot of poor decisions in the past and I’m dealing with the consequences of those decisions,” she told Jay Leno in April 2011. “But I’m a fighter. I know that I have to work to gain the respect back and I’m willing to do the work I need to do to follow through with being an actress. That’s what I love.”

The actress — dropped from the planned biopic of porn star Linda Lovelace in 2010 — hopes that she’ll eventually win an Academy Award.

“As long as I stay focused, I’ll be able to achieve what I want to achieve,” she told Leno. “[In five years, I’ll] hopefully [be] sitting here after I’ve won an Oscar. That would be ideal.”

Maybe playing Elizabeth Taylor is the first step toward that little gold statue.
