Kelly Ripa inks sweet new Live deal

Anyone worried about Kelly Ripa‘s daytime talk show future can rest easy. With Regis Philbin retiring next week, Kelly Ripa has signed a new five-year deal with Live! With Regis and Kelly.

Kelly Ripa is staying put — at least for another five years.

Regis Philbin is making his Live! With Regis and Kelly exit Friday, Nov. 18 and some have been curious as to how it would effect Kelly Ripa or if it would at all, considering she’s under contract until the fall of 2012.

Well, we got an interesting answer to that question. According to a report from Deadline, Kelly Ripa just signed a new five-year deal with the show.

The new contract will go into place once her current one expires in the fall of 2012. This puts the host and busy mom on track for 16 years with the show.

So, as 80-year-old Regis Philbin prepares to hand over his show to a new co-host, has he made a decision on who will join Kelly behind the desk?

That would be no. Right now the search is on for his replacement, but the show is getting a temporary name — Live with Kelly.

There is no shortage of hungry talent who’d love to fill-in or take the seat permanently, including Jerry Seinfeld.

Jerry Seinfeld is on deck to give it go Nov. 21-23. He’s a funny man, but when we picture him hosting a daytime talk show, it seems a bit tame. We’ll give him a try though.

The show is pulling out all the stops to send Regis off in style. Guests scheduled to bid him an on-air farewell next week include David Letterman and Kathie Lee Gifford.

Kathie Lee Gifford and Regis Philbin have a long history together, which includes hosting 15 years of Live together before Ripa joined the show in 2001.

Are you sad to see Regis Philbin go? And what do you think of 5 more years with Kelly Ripa? Head over to our comments section and sound off!
