Michael Lohan seems to be following in his famous daughter’s footsteps by getting himself arrested and taken to prison. He was charged with domestic violence battery.
Michael Lohan was arrested early Tuesday morning for allegedly abusing his live-in girlfriend, who sources say is his on-again and off-again partner, Kate Major. He was booked with a domestic violence charge.
Reports indicate that Lohan was taken away in handcuffs outside his Tampa, Florida apartment and transported to a Hillsborough County Jail after Major called the police. Lohan complained of chest pains when he was put in handcuffs, but after being cleared by medical doctors, was put behind bars.
This isn’t the first time Lohan has been accused of abusing his girlfriend. Back in March, the Celebrity Rehab star was arrested after an argument between him and his girlfriend turned physical. Major suffered minor injuries, and Lohan complained of chest pains once he was put in handcuffs during that arrest, too.
Major then broke up with Lohan, saying at the time, “I wish that he gets the help that he needs and I feel sorry that Dina was stuck with him for 18 years and my heart goes out to his children.”
Lohan’s arrest mirrors his famous daughter’s own legal troubles. Lindsay Lohan may also end up behind bars if she fails to complete her court-mandated community service hours. The younger Lohan was handcuffed and taken to jail just last week after failing to complete her service hours at a Los Angeles-area Women’s Center. She was released on a $100,000 bail and is now completing her required hours in a morgue where she is cleaning toilets and mopping floors, among other things.
According to the Hillsborough County Jail web site, Lohan is still being held in custody without bail. There has also been no indication that he has hired an attorney.
