Bret Michaels creates AMA Supercross Award

Bret Michaels has created an award for AMA Supercross riders who know how to make a comeback.

Bret Michaels knows a thing or two about coming back from the brink of death. Now the rocker wants to recognize AMA Supercross riders who make their own comebacks.

The reality star has teamed up with AMA Supercross to present the Bret Michaels Rock Hard-Ride Award, given to riders who get back on the horse again, so to speak.

“Bret believes in staying true to your dreams and never giving up under any circumstances,” said a Bret Michaels insider.

“It’s clear that Michaels practices what he preaches after seeing how he’s lived up to this mantra by fighting for his life in 2010, and coming back stronger than ever in 2011.”

“With that being said, he’s really looking forward to cheering on the riders of the upcoming AMA Supercross 2011 season, and seeing who will be the most hard-charging rider to make the strongest comeback of the competition.”

Since Michaels is a huge fan of motocross racing and loves AMA Supercross in particular, creating the award — along with the donation of thousands of dollars and a custom guitar as a trophy — was a natural fit.
