What do you do when you’re an A-list celebrity with an Academy Award but you’re in the news because of your son? That’s a question for Michael Douglas, whose son, 30-year-old Cameron, could go to jail for the rest of his life. The alleged crime: Selling illegal drugs for at least three years.

may recall seeing Cameron on the big screen along with his dad, Michael, and grandfather, Kirk, in It Runs in the Family. Although acting may run in the family, Cameron apparently has
taken on a lesser role: He is accused of selling thousands of dollars’ worth of methamphetamine.
On July 28, Cameron Douglas was arrested in New York City, and the very next day, charges were read in a federal court. Whether he applied for or was granted bail is unclear, but Michael Douglas’ son faces at least 10 years in prison. The maximum is life for two counts of possessing and distributing methamphetamine, also
known as “crystal meth.”
Douglas apparently received crystal meth when he was in California and then sent it to New York from 2006 and 2009 via FedEx. Reportedly, he did not work alone; he had accomplices who are
cooperating with the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
While a court date has not been set yet, this is not the first drug charge against Cameron Douglas. He was arrested in 2007 and charged with possession of cocaine in California.
