Early in 2008, Natalie Portman launched a new vegan line of designer shoes, which benefits The Nature Conservancy, an organization dedicated to protect the environment. We all know Natalie is a smart woman (Harvard Grad!), so it comes as no surprise to see her working with such a worthy cause.
Together with fashion firm Té Casan, Natalie has created this terrific shoe collection, which features dozens of limited edition animal-friendly styles. Each shoe in the collection has an approximately retail price tag of $140-400 with only up to 100 pairs per size being sold.

As a vegan, I don’t wear leather, fur or feathers,” says the Academy Award nominated and Golden Globe winning actress. “Shopping for clothes hasn’t proved too difficult, but finding chic footwear has definitely been a challenge.”
As the world continues to “go green,” the fashion world follows the trend. More and more vegan and environmentally friendly lines of shoes, handbags and clothing are being launched each year. And as we all become more aware of the long-term effects our buying habits have on the world, I’m sure we will see even more vegan shoes next season.
