Natural baby & toddler tooth care

When your baby is little you still need to protect those pearly whites, even before they erupt, here’s how to care for little teeth in a more natural manner.

The first thing you’ll want to do is read, Early care for shiny healthy teeth, this will get you up to speed on all the basics. Once it’s time for actual baby tooth supplies, here’s a good guide to products:

Hyland’s Teething Gel & Tablets by Hyland’s Homeopathic Medicines: This all-natural pain reliever for infant teethers worked for my little and it contains no benzocaine, sugar, artificial flavoring, or dyes and coloring agents, plus, it’s easy to use.

Preserve Jr’s toothbrush handle is made from 100% recycled plastic, and comes with a small postage paid baggie, so when your child needs a new one, you can send the old one back to be recycled. This company also does good from their partnership with the National Wildlife Federation. This toothbrush is small enough for toddler mouths - my son used them fine, and he loved the toothbrush containers with the little animal pictures. natural toothpasteNatural Fluoride-Free Toothpaste for Children in Silly Strawberry: This natural, non-fluoride, non-abrasive baby tooth gel makes a great first toddler toothpaste. It uses calcium and silica to create a scrub, and has a very light strawberry flavor, that my son loved. Plus it’s perfectly safe for little ones to swallow.

Baby Organics toothpaste is certified organic, comes in a light orange flavor, and has none of the chemicals and other icky things found in traditional toothpastes. Sulphate free, fluoride free and mineral oil free, makes this paste a winner.

Don’t forget that research shows that breastfeeding supports healthy, strong baby teeth, and breastfeeding is also a very green parenting practice.
