MommyStyle: Spring trend shopping in your closet

Spring fashion is here! Here’s how you can dress in the latest spring trends without having to go shopping for them!

Woman shopping in her closet

Spring fashion is upon us! That’s right mamas, are you ready to change your look up a bit from the winter months?

I must admit, I’m loving the trends and styles right now. There’s nothing “out” there that I’m turned off by, and I’m really enjoying the colors, the patterns, the boldness and the pops of color. Everything is so refreshing and fabulously fashionable. The BIG thing for us mamas out there is that the trends are doable and practical and attainable — and in many cases, you can wear them without even having to go out shopping for new things!

Whenever a new season approaches, the one thing I constantly hear from my mom readers over at Mom Generations is, “Audrey, how can I wear any of these new trends? I don’t have the money to spend and I don’t know what will look good on me.” Believe me, I know it can be tricky with every new season seeing more and more new trends. I want to help alleviate any spring fashion trend fears and show you just how easy and inexpensive it can be to “shop” for the latest trends!

Shop in your closet!

I’m going to share with you five spring trends and I’m going to show you how you (most likely) have many of these in your closet already! And the best part for moms? All these trends are mom-appropriate!

Polka dots

Polka dots

This is a HUGE trend right now! It doesn’t matter how you’re wearing them — blouse, shoes, hair accessory, handbag, scarf, bathing suit, tee or belt. I love the simplicity of polka dots and that they work for every woman regardless of your shape, size or age!

Tangerine

Tangerine

Come on, you’ve got to have something tangerine in your closet! I actually thought there was no way I did, and upon searching around this past January, I discovered two tees that I have and a scarf. The beauty in tangerine is that it’s the color of 2012, and it doesn’t matter how or where you wear it (clothing, shoes, accessories), just that you do!

Color blocking

Color blocking

The definition of color blocking is the combination of colors. The reason I love this trend is because you can create a color blocking look on your own. Pair colored jeans with a different colored blouse and shoes. This is an easy way to bring on the color blocking without spending a penny.

Bold

Bold

Bold colors are hot as can be right now. Pinks and reds and oranges and yellows are just over-the-top FABULOUS right now. Don’t feel the pressure to go out and buy new items of these colors — look around with what you’ve got. I can assure you, you probably have these colors hanging (pun intended) around. Bring them out!

Dress those shorts up!

Dress those shorts up!

I am in LOVE with this spring trend. Take your most fabulous pair of shorts and pair with a blouse and blazer. It’s trendy. It’s classic. It’s sophisticated. It’s just the most fashionable and perfect spring look for moms.
