Best and worst dressed at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards

Good news: Awards season is back in full swing. Better news: We get to be all judgmental over the gowns celebs wear on the red carpet! Sadly, there aren’t a whole lot of bad things we can say about the outfits at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards.

The 2012 People’s Choice Awards was an easy way to break into awards season — it was a fun, low-key affair. Luckily, celebrities didn’t take that as an excuse to wear rags on the red carpet.

Ashley Greene

Ashley Greene can pretty much do no wrong in our eyes. The Pan Am beauty stunned in this edgy creation by Donna Karan — fitting, since she is the official face of DKNY. This black mini-dress hugs her curves in all the right spots — and the lace detail makes it sweet along with the sexy.

Emma Stone

Oh, Emma. Oh, Emma, Emma, Emma. We normally adore your red carpet choices. Not this time — Stone’s oddly-structured pantsuit does nothing for the stunning actress. We can only hope she’s bringing out the big guns for the Golden Globes this weekend.

Julianne Hough

Julianne Hough at the People's choice Awards

We have a love/hate relationship with Footloose actress Julianne Hough. The former Dancing With the Stars pro is both beautiful and talented — and we love to hate her for her seemingly perfect life.

Oh, who are we kidding? We just hate her because of how incredible she looks in this low-cut bejeweled gown. Some critics are blasting her for always going backless, but the girl knows what works for her.

Miley Cyrus

Actress and singer Miley Cyrus showed up to the People’s Choice Awards with her Hunger Games steady Liam Hemsworth. Cyrus is usually hit or miss on the red carpet, but this sexy — yet demure — David Koma dress was spot-on. We’re loving this mature version of Cyrus — keep it up!

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato’s year is getting off to a great start. The once-troubled actress won a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Female Pop Artist and wowed on the red carpet with a peach-colored Marchesa gown that hugged her healthy curves in all the right places. She later switched into a short red dress for her on-stage performance. We liked the dress, but could have done without the train in the back.

Lea Michele

Glee’s Lea Michele had a great night at the People’s Choice Awards. She won an award for Favorite Female Comedy actress and donned a gorgeous Marchesa gown with fuchsia lipstick. The actress and singer loved the lipstick (Lancome’s Rogue Love Lipstick in Roses in Love) so much that she thanked her makeup artist after her win.

“The lipstick you put on me tonight was AMAZING! I loved it!!!” Michele tweeted to Melanie Inglessis.

Nina Dobrev

The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev usually hits a fashion home run on the red carpet. Not this time: The actress’ asymmetrical mini dress didn’t do well with her skin tone — and we’re not loving the one long-sleeve look, either.

Notice someone missing from the list? Yup, so did we. Read on about the AWOL Katy Perry.
