Barbara Walters and Joan Rivers royally rip the Queen

Not even regal Queen Elizabeth is immune to the harsh criticism of the media. Read on to find out what catty remarks were made by Barbara Walters and Joan Rivers over the monarch’s Olympic moment.

Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth totally rocked our world at the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympics by making her film debut with James Bond, then pretending to parachute out of a helicopter into the stadium. It was a move that showed a rare glimpse of the beloved monarch’s sense of fun and humor — but apparently that’s not enough for Barbara Walters.

Her moment of frivolity aside, Queen Elizabeth maintained her normal cool as a cucumber game face for the rest of the ceremonies — and Walters disparaged her “sour face.”

“Let me tell you my thing with the Queen,” Walters said on The View. “I did agree that the whole thing with Daniel Craig was funny… [but] this is a woman who does not know how to smile.”

“Now, would it have killed this woman, this queen, to go…” Walters grinned. “It’s such a sour face.”

Walters also dissed the Queen’s choice of peach dress and fascinator. “She is 86, but she dresses like something out of the 19th century,” she said. “The pink dress with the pink plume, but then the black gloves and the black bag — what does the Queen keep in that bag anyway? She never changes.”

The veteran journalist wasn’t the only one to rip the royal: Joan Rivers, not exactly known for acting like a lady, dissed the Queen for her uncrossed legs. Note to Joan: A lady never crosses her knees, only her ankles.
