Toronto Festival lineup: Follow the Looper!

The 2012 Toronto Film Festival is starting off with a bang. Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s action flick Looper will open this year’s event. It’s just one of many anticipated debuts, which will include Ben Affleck’s Argo and The Wachowski’s Cloud Atlas.

Looper

The Toronto International Film Festival is coming. Tuesday, they released the lineup for this year’s edition, which will feature some major premieres. On opening night, director Rian Johnson’s sci-fi epic Looper will kick things off.

Looper stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis as the younger and older versions of the same character. Does that sound confusing? The story centers on an assassin who’s commissioned to kill himself. Willis is Older Joe and lives in a future where criminals use time travel to “dispose” of their victims.

The mob hires loopers (hit men), such as Younger Joe, who live in the past to kill targets transported through time. Unfortunately, that’s hard to do when your target is yourself!
