How to get furniture indentations out of carpet

If you love to decorate and rearrange furniture, indentations left behind can be the pits. Here are a few ideas to get furniture impressions out of your carpet so you can get your furniture arrangement on.

Steam cleaning carpet

Option 1: Steam machine

One of the easiest and most effective way to remove annoying carpet indentations left behind by furniture is to steam clean the carpet. By following the general steam machine directions of spritzing water followed by steaming, you should have no issues removing impressions fast and effectively.

Option 2: Iron

If you do not have a steam machine or don’t have the means to rent one, create your own steam experience by using a damp towel and iron. Place the clean, damp towel over the affected area and slowly iron over it. Leave for a minute and remove the towel. Indentations should vanish almost immediately. If it doesn’t work the first time, try again.

Option 3: Ice cube

An easy and simple way to remove carpet impressions left by furniture is to place an ice cube in the indentation. Leave the ice cube for a long period of time, such as overnight, and brush out the carpet using a wire brush (depending on carpet durability) the next morning. Indentations should easily and immediately lift after little effort.

Option 4: Your hands

Another option to remove indentations is to tease the carpet with your fingers. After about five to 10 minutes, simply vacuum over the affected area. Move the vacuum over slowly, to encourage the carpet fibers to raise.
