Artistic baby names are unique and are a great choice for parents wanting to give their child an unusual, yet beautiful name. “All children are artists,” said the great Pablo Picasso. “The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”

By choosing a creative baby boy name or baby girl name, you can be sure your daughter or son will have an artistic side to them — no matter how old they are!

Baby names inspired by artists

From Leonardo da Vinci to Sandro Botticelli, the names of the greats are as unique as their works of art. Many of these names can be given to boys and girls — you be the judge! For some names, such as Pablo Picasso, where both the first and last name would make great names, I have included both.

Create your own artistic name

If you are the artistic type and want to create or come up with your own artistic name, search out exotic baby names that have unique meanings. Browse through our list of baby names by origins (Italian, French, Irish, etc.) to help you get started.

As with many famous artists, like Michelangelo or Monet, it is important to have a first or last name that can stand on their own — and look amazing when signed at the bottom of their artwork. If your last name seems too ordinary or common, make sure the first name has an added flair to it.

In general, longer names (such as Salvador or Raphael) sound more artistic than shorter names. However, if you want to keep the name shorter, you might want to consider modern and edgy names, such as Zander or Shadow. You could also choose a first name that starts with the same letter as your last name, such as Ansel Adams or Pablo Picasso.
