It’s official! Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth managed to keep their engagement under wraps for the past week. That all changed this morning, when news broke that the 19-year-old is marrying her boyfriend of three years.
In another sign that our Hannah Montana is all grown up (as if these pics weren’t enough), reps for Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth confirmed to People this morning that the former Disney star is getting hitched to the Aussie actor.
Hemsworth who, at only 22, is three years his fiancée’s senior, met Cyrus when they co-starred in 2009’s The Last Song.
With the exception of a brief breakup in 2010, the couple has been together for three years.
There’s been on-again, off-again speculation that the two were going to tie the knot, but Hemsworth somehow managed to evade the Twitter police with this one.
Sources say The Hunger Games actor popped the question on May 31, presenting Cyrus with a 3.5-carat diamond ring designed by Neil Lane — the same jeweler who helps J-Lo, Angie Jo and Madge sparkle on the red carpet.
“I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,” Cyrus told People.
The Twitterverse blew up following the news. Some choice comments: “That awkward moment when Miley Cyrus has more rings than Lebron,” I never imagined Miley Cyrus would get engaged before I did,” “things Miley Cyrus isn’t ready for: being engaged.”
No wedding date has been set. And, no word yet on if Billy Ray’s heart is achy breaking over the news.
