Brad Womack is still a jerk, slams Emily Maynard

Brad Womack is more than a little happy that ex-girlfriend Emily Maynard is on The Bachelorette. Find out what jerky things he has to say about her.

Former Bachelor Brad Womack blamed himself for the breakup of his relationship with Emily Maynard in 2011, but he’s singing a different tune now that she’s the one doing the picking on this season of The Bachelorette.

“I’m glad I think I dodged a bullet with the relationship, so I just hope it works out for her,” Womack told Houston ABC station KTRK—TV earlier this week. The Austin-based bar owner didn’t elaborate on what he meant, but he did say she’s a great woman.

“All I’ll say is, she is a hell of a woman. I hope it works out. I’m happy; I hope she’s happy. So maybe we can do an interview after the finale and you can tell me what happens,” he said, adding that he has “no interest” in watching the show.

A really douchey thing to say, right? Well, he wants us to know that he’s totally a sincere, normal guy.

“Some people love the show; Some people hate the show. So I just want people to know, ‘Hey I’m not just this cheesy reality guy that hands out roses…’ I swear I don’t have one piece of Bachelor memorabilia. It’s just one of those things that came and went,” Womack said, even though he went back to The Bachelor twice.

Is The Bachelorette racist? Maybe >>

Last summer, Womack told People that his temper was the reason that his union with Womack fizzled.

“The demise of our relationship was completely my fault,” he told the entertainment magazine. “I gave Em every reason under the sun to get out much sooner than she did. She hung in there with me much, much longer than she should have.”

He added that he’d blow up at her — and it sounded kind of scary.

“I would get so angry and would feel almost violated,” he revealed. “I would keep those feelings bottled up, and by the time I had the chance to speak to Em… I would let that negative emotion come flooding out, and it was almost as if she was being attacked.”

Maynard hasn’t publicly blasted her ex, though she did reveal that she was worried he’d show up on the debut episode of the show. And if it doesn’t work out with whomever she chooses this season? Well, she can always call John Mayer. The musician told Ellen DeGeneres that he loves watching The Bachelorette and The Bachelor.

“I don’t even feel like it’s my fault,” he said. “It’s not a guilty pleasure — it’s designed to be a pleasure.”

Mayer added that he loves how producers set up the dramatic scenes on the show. “They have to ask someone like Ben [Flajnik, the last Bachelor], ‘Okay, Ben, we need you to walk out on the balcony without a shirt and just think,'” he joked. “So he has to walk out there and do this without his shirt on, so he can overlay it with, ‘Yesterday brought me a lot of questions, a lot of questions in my mind.'”

He wouldn’t join the show, though.

“It’s one of those things where I would waste their time taking a meeting, just so I could hear more about it,” he admitted. “I’d ultimately say no, but I’d just have to take the meeting.”
