Sherlock Holmes: first look

Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law are bringing Sherlock Holmes back to the big screen courtesy of filmmaker Guy Ritchie.

The first stills have arrived from the London set.First up, we have star Downey and Rachel McAdams making a run for it. Downey stars as the titular sleuth reborn for a 21st century audience.

McAdams is the love interest for Downey’s Holmes.

Sherlock Holmes also stars Mark Strong who made a strong showing (sorry, bad pun!) in Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest, Body of Lies.

Ritchie promises a suspense thriller with its fair share of humor.

Judging by the trailer circulating currently, he has accomplished feats on both counts.

Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and RocknRolla look nothing like the London streets of his Sherlock Holmes.

Sherlock Holmes is set to premiere on Christmas Day as SheKnows Entertainment brings our readers the inside scoop while the summer heat still burns.

Ritchie, Law and Downey have had mostly ups and few downs on the London set.A stuntman was injured during one perilously dangerous scene, but other than that mishap, the set has been problem-free.

Below we see Ritchie directing his actors and does it even look like these three are working? They say do what you love and success will follow.

If Sherlock Holmes’ early stills are any indication, Ritchie’s long-standing love for all things Sherlock will pay off in a box-office blockbuster.

Laying the Law

Now it’s Jude Law’s turn for the spotlight. Many thought Law was the right choice to play Sherlock Holmes, but Ritchie disagreed and kept his casting firm. Downey is Holmes and Law is Watson. Honestly, it is perfect casting indeed.

Watching Law and Downey not only as partners onscreen, but as actors dueling for screen supremacy should prove to rule the Holiday movie season.

A Sherlock Holmes who-done-it?

The deeper Detective Holmes and Watson delve, the thicker the mystery becomes. In the hands of a phenomenal pace-setter as Ritchie, Sherlock Holmes 2009 could out-suspense any Holmes project that’s come prior.
