On the runway: Cynthia Rowley

We are now officially in full Fashion Week mode and couldn’t wait to end our day of running around with a classic runway favorite: Cynthia Rowley on Thursday, February 9th.

Stars such as Rebecca Romijn and Kelly Rutherford lit up the front row as we waited for this must-see designer’s show to begin. We were all (celebrities included) expecting Cynthia Rowley’s signature flirtatious and vibrantly fun looks on the runway, and fortunately, that’s exactly what she delivered.

What we saw

This show was an entire Fourth of July throwback with hints of maroon, navy and white throughout the collection. Rowley made sure to highlight these colors in a modern way with screen printed skirts, sequined embellished tops and flowing dresses. You could also see this hint of “workmen-chic” in her designs. While she still kept her pieces girly and light, she grunged up looks with leather detailing, oversize sweaters and jumpsuits. The best? Instead of showcasing a standard menswear-inspired collar on her shirts, Rowley opted to encrust many collars with colorful jewels — a total man meets woman moment.

Our favorite piece

The springbok fur! In a collection full of patriotic colors and menswear-inspired looks, Rowley added that touch of feminine glamour in many of her accessories with bright fur. The blue-turquoise and black bag? To die for.

What you’ll see in street style

White! During a fall of black and dark colors, it was so refreshing to see pops of white in Cynthia’s show (especially the second to last flowy dress). While you will of course continue to see dark neutrals on the street, think spring and warm weather when the bursts of white appear.

Cynthia Rowley -- Band-aid

Also, we had the opportunity to preview Cynthia Rowley’s newest partnership with Band-Aid before her show! Her next set of colorful and fun “Beach Sport Kits” will hit stores May 2012 and will feature exclusive Cynthia Rowley designs ranging from sharks and jellyfish to serene sunsets. We’re so excited to bring fashion to one of our medicine cabinet must-haves!
